A Fun Halloween Decorating Party

After summer winds down, and we get through the back to school thing, I love doing things with my family for the Autumn and Winter holiday season.  We kick everything off with a decorating party, with fun foods, and a great evening together while we put up our favorite decorations from past years.  We actually have 2 1/2 of them.  One for Autumn, one mid-way through to remove the Halloween stuff and slip in the Thanksgiving things, and then one for Christmas.

Here is a picture of one of our decorating parties.  We also always have a really fun drink.  This time we had carrot wands with spooky dip (ranch dressing that I dyed purple), Sloppy Jacks, a pumpkin shaped cheese ball, crackers, and witches hats.

Here is a closeup of the Sloppy Jacks.  I just make a bunch of sloppy Joe's and then add pumpkin faces on top of the buns made out of sliced cheese.

For my cheese ball I take 8 oz. of cream cheese, 2 TBSP of finely diced onion, 4 oz. of cheese (I love Bleu Cheese, but cheddar will do in a pinch) and orange food coloring.  Mix together well and shape into a pumpkin.  Add a celery stick stem, and viola--an easy food item that lets your family know that they are special.

Here is a closeup of the witch's Hats.  Take a striped short-bread cookie, place a small dollop of chocolate frosting in the middle and add a Chocolate Kiss on top.  Super easy AND super Yummy!

My kids and husband love decorating for the holidays, especially with the  treats, and I think is is SO much fun setting up such a cute family party that I know my family will remember!  The only thing you can really give someone that lasts are memories, and the more wonderful ones, the better.  We have ours scheduled for October 3rd and I just can't wait!  I hope that you are able to plan one of your own with your family's Halloween favorites!

Happy Haunting!
